The dictionary definition of Nova is: a sudden brightening of a previously inconspicuous star, which we deem an apt name for our latest 2.6.4 release!

Now brighter, the editor comes equipped with a powerful Image Editor allowing you to perform a number of image editing functions. This includes: image cropping and resizing, ability to replace files, applying watermarks and finally a ruler for a pixel perfect resolve. So if you are developer that needs a quick and simple solution that will allow your users to resize and crop images out of the box, the JoomlaFCK editor might be the one for you?

What's more, version 2.6.4 come integrated with "WebSpellChecker", a zero installation and free spell checker provided by SpellChecker.net. This is now the default spell checker if Aspell in not installed on your server.

Other New Features:
* In the table dialog it's possible to create header cells in the first row (included in a thread element) or the first column of the table
* The table cell dialog allows switching between normal data cells or header cells (TD vs. TH)
* New language file for Icelandic
* Supports the new Internet Explorer 8
* GPL compliant.

From 1 July 2009 the Joomla Extensions Directory (the JED) is going to remove all commercial extensions as well as free ones that are encrypted but still under the GPL licence - read more...

Some of our longstanding users will recall that the Joomla! integration of the FCK editor was originally licensed under the GPL,  so why did we change it? Well, we found ourselves in a situation where our integration was plagiarised in a competing editor on the JED.

It has always been our position and always will be to warmly welcome you to modify, adapt and change our code to best fit your needs. If you have a component and want to use a plug-in or a piece of our code – please go ahead, BUT do not blatantly rip off our work and claim it’s yours, come on now! So yes it’s true, we have decided to place our faith in the JED team and revisit the GPL licence.
