Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in H:\Joomla\administrator\index2.php on line 40
If you have received the error above or a similar error your server has a maximum execution time of 60 seconds. This means that your server is unable upload and install the editor within the allocated time set by your hosting provider.
Install from Directory
Joomla! Extensions can be installed using one of three methods. If you are unable to install the editor from the editors .tgz package because of your server execution time, you should be able to install editor by using the “Install from Directory’ method. First you will have to unzip or unpackage the .tgz file before uploading the files to the ‘tmp’ folder in your joomla install. Then install using the ‘Install from Directory’ option. Please see Joomla Docs for a step by step guild on how to install from directory: http://docs.joomla.org/Screen.installer.15

To unzip the editors .tgz package file you will need to use application like winRAR which is free. Click here: to download. If this doesn’t work there are two other solutions:
Increase your servers execution time:
If you have rights to modify the php.ini file and restart the web server:
1. Open the php.ini file (Normally it should be in the php or the windows directory)
2. Find the line: max_execution_time = 30
3. Change the value 30 into 120
4. Save the php.ini file and restart the web server
5. Now reload the Joomla! administration page.
Or you could try:
The international version of the editor contains multiple language files so the file size is larger than the standard version. This means that the files size of the standard version is much lighter and should install if you cannot increase your servers execution time. |

The editor’s server-side requirements are the same as Joomla!'s, so if you using the recommend configuration, the editor will work out of the box.
Joomla! runs on the php pre-processor. Php comes in many flavours, for a lot of operating systems. Beside php you will need a web server. Most of the times Apache is used, but also php can run on different web-servers like Microsoft IIS.
From version 1.5.8 Joomla requires php 5, this was due to a new JURI method--isInternal($url)— being introduced which addressed a security hole in previous versions.
The minimum requirements are:
• Joomla 1.5.x
• Apache 2.x
• PHP 5 or up
• MySQL 5 or up
The recommended requirements:
• Recommended to use the values, 755 and 0644 for folders and files respectively
• PHPsuExec, php_suexec or suPHP installed
For more information on Joomla’s system requirement please see the official link below:
This is not to say that the editor will not work if you are using a different configuration however, you may have to play around with your servers file permissions to get the editor to function correctly.
The recommended provider:
If your hosting provider is currently not using the recommend server-side configuration we would recommend JoomlaWired.com, as there environment has been exclusively built with Joomla in mind. |

Installing the PSPELL module on Windows based servers
PSPELL can be used starting with PHP version 4.3.3. To use it on your server, follow the instructions below:
If using Microsoft Windows, you must allow the web server user to execute the aspell program. For this you must:
Open the <windows_root>System32\ folder.
Right-click on the cmd.exe file and select the Properties item. On the Security tab select the user that runs the web server and check the Read and Execute options on the Allow column.
Click OK to apply the changes.
First download the ASPELL installer as below.
- Execute the downloaded file.
- Follow the wizard's instructions: accept the licence, select the folder to install to and whether to create shortcuts or not.
- Click Install to commence copying the required files.
- By default the View manual check-mark is selected. When Finish is clicked, the manual page is displayed.
- ASPELL is now installed on your system.
- Install ASPELL 0.50 or higher as explained above.
- Copy the aspell-15.dll file from the bin folder of your ASPELL installation into a folder in the system path, where it can be accessed by PHP.
- Open the php.ini file with a text editor.
- Locate the block where extensions are defined. Uncomment or add the line saying: extension=php_pspell.dll.
- Save the php.ini configuration file and restart the web server.
