The editor’s server-side requirements are the same as Joomla!'s, so if you using the recommend configuration, the editor will work out of the box.

Joomla! runs on the php pre-processor. Php comes in many flavours, for a lot of operating systems. Beside php you will need a web server. Most of the times Apache is used, but also php can run on different web-servers like Microsoft IIS.

From version 1.5.8 Joomla requires php 5, this was due to a new JURI method--isInternal($url)— being introduced which addressed a security hole in previous versions.

The minimum requirements are:

• Joomla 1.5.x
• Apache 2.x
• PHP 5 or up
• MySQL 5 or up

The recommended requirements:

• Recommended to use the values, 755 and 0644 for folders and files respectively
• PHPsuExec, php_suexec or suPHP installed

For more information on Joomla’s system requirement please see the official link below:

This is not to say that the editor will not work if you are using a different configuration however, you may have to play around with your servers file permissions to get the editor to function correctly.

The recommended provider:

If your hosting provider is currently not using the recommend server-side configuration we would recommend JoomlaWired.com, as there environment has been exclusively built with Joomla in mind.
